Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Christian women are citizens of two worlds - one where our value comes from God, and one where our value comes from our looks. How do we live in both? Should we stop caring how we look altogether and focus our money and time on eternal matters? What would our husbands say about that? Or is it ok to whiten our teeth, exercise, buy wrinkle cream, dye our hair? I do not have the answers to any of the above questions, but you are welcome to join me as I listen for God's answers. I want the Bread of Life. I also want bread that does not make my thighs bigger.

Plucking

The other day I looked in the mirror - and horrors! - saw a wiry gray hair among my lustrous brown locks.  Can I tell you how fast the tweezers came out of my drawer and that gray hair was plucked and in the trash can?  Let's just say I might have broken some speed records. 

Myth: I pluck one gray hair, multiple gray hairs will grow back in it ...

Yet even in this most simple act of vanity, God spoke to me.  Isn't that just like Him?  Jesus often used the simplest everyday acts to teach about the Kingdom - sweeping, attending a wedding, tending sheep.  And here is what God said, "My child, why are you so quick to pluck a lone gray hair, but so slow to pluck sin out of your life?"

Ouch.  God, 1.  Me, 0.

    Yikes!! For future reference, don't pluck it out b/c more grow in that place, instead cut it very closely to your scalp. Also, they are not that noticeable to others...look at your beautiful face and the gray hairs blend into the background. I'm praying for you as your bring sweet Anna home!
